A. I grew up in church. A lot of my early influences were Fred Hammond, The Winans, J.Moss, even Tye Tribbett. As. I grew older I gravitated to artists like Musiq Soulchild, Kanye West, D’Angelo, Marvin Gaye and Stevie wonder.
Q. What Inspires You To Write Music?
A. God, life, love and people man. I grew up in a big close knit family. I’ve seen love bring us together. I’ve seen hurt tear us apart. I see it in the world, families communities. People just want to live, share their love and be loved. I believe that’s globally.
There are so many stories to tell.
Q. When Do Your Creative Ideas Usually Come To You?
Q. What are some of your past projects & how did they benefit you?
A.
My first unofficial EP was “FEET DON’T FAIL ME NOW”. The main songs were “Feet don’t fail me now”, “I’m Blessed”, and “Superman” that were all testament to the faith and affirmations that resonate and drive everything I do now in life and music. 3 songs and 3 points. Trust God, keep a heat of gratitude, and walk by faith.
The latest project is “POSTCARDS” and that was a journey in itself. Everything I’ve done to this day is self funded and this was no different. This was my first project as an “artist”. Every song is its own postcard. “POSTCARDS” is a beautiful project and close to me. It challenged me to think outside the box and it briefly highlights various parts of me.
Every song is its own destination. Enjoy the ride.
Q. Which one of YOUR songs is YOUR favorite & why?
A. They’re all my favorite. Its so hard to choose because they each hit differently depending on the situation. “Feet don’t Fail Me Now” is one because it motivates and just makes you believe and any to get up and conquer the world. .
Today it’s “Black Roses” because it represents a new beginning, and it’s one of the more intimate songs I have made to date. There’s something really special about “Black Roses”. The more you listen to it, the more it speaks. It’s a love song but it’s a universal love song about the spirit of love, but especially for black men and women. Hoping we can speak more love to one another in this generation.
Q. Where Do You See Yourself In 5 Years?
A. I see myself as recognized and touring internationally. Doing music full time successfully and sharing this good music that people have missed out on.
