A. iManté @eeemante
A. I’m from the Sugar Creek/Graham St. area of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A. I would describe my genre as neo soul meets rap music. I love melodies, complex lyricism, and anything else that just feels good.
A. My influences come from all over. Michael Jackson, Lil Wayne, Rick James, Nas, BB King, UGK, OutKast, etc. The south, the west and east coasts all have a hand in my sound. I like to pull from the music I heard around the house growing up too. Motown, P-Funk, the Blues and Gospel have all been instrumental.
Q. What Inspires You To Write Music?
A. I get inspired by things that happen in my life, dope new music that I hear, other genres, current events. Pretty much anything that makes me think or makes me want to rap.
A.
“My main single is called DRAGONFRUIT and it’s the title track off my newest EP.”
Q. When Do Your Creative Ideas Usually Come To You?
Q. What are some of your past projects & how did they benefit you?
A. Free was my first EP, that helped to establish some of my first fans and my second project was a mixtape called Manté and the theme is based on the tv show Martin. Manté got me a lot more recognition outside of my city. My last project HAVE PATIENCE is really me positioning myself sonically and being a little more vulnerable with the music and i’m seeing that translate to a better type of connection with my listeners.
Q. Which one of YOUR songs is YOUR favorite & why?
A. My favorite song of mine is “9:25”. It reminds me of where I started. That was the first song I ever made and it still resonates with me to this day. Honorable mention “I Think I Know”.
Q. Where Do You See Yourself In 5 Years?
A. I see myself touring, collaborating more with different artists and producers and in a $5 Million home somewhere out the way.
Q. What’s your favorite restaurant & Why?
A. My favorite food spot is in Charlotte uptown it’s called Mert’s Heart & Soul. Soul food is a go to for me being from the south, and i’ve been going to this spot with my family since I was a kid. My grandad would come visit every summer and stay in that Holiday Inn so Mert’s became like a tradition.
Q. Things you like to do for fun ?
A. I love to play my guitar. My grandad bought me my first acoustic nylon string and taught me some blues scales when I was about 11 years old and I’ve been playing ever since. Other than that you can find me in nature, hiking or at the beach, biking. I hoop a lot and work out. Staying active keeps my performances tight. I’m a big comedy fan too i’m always watching stand up and everything else that’s funny.
